Review: This game is very ADDICTING.  The point of the game is to destroy all the enemy planets.  You start the game with one planet with 100 people on it.  Automatically your planet will reproduce(the bigger the physical planet the faster it  reproduces).  In order to win your going to need to spread your people to other planets so that you can reproduce faster.  You can also attack the other team’s planets to make their population go down or if you send a big enough army you can take over their planet.  There is a number in the bottom right corner of the screen and that allows you to choose how many people are going to be sent from your planet to the enemies.  You have to make sure you keep a good defense on your planets though or else the other team will take them over.  In this version of the game there are 10 difficulties.  On the settings screen you can adjust the sound and on the help screen they do a very good job of explaining the rules and the point of the game.

Verdict: This game is very addicting.  I played for 30 minutes thinking it was only 5 minutes.  If you enjoy this game a lot, there is a paid version ($4.99) that has more features.  If you don’t download this your missing out.

Review: This game is just like PapiJump and PapiRiver.  It provides you with a good way to kill time and have fun while doing it.  In this Papi game you have to navigate Papi, who is perched on the top of a pole, to catch the falling hamburgers and avoid the falling spike balls.  You lose the game whenever you get hit with 4 spike balls or Papi falls down.  This game seems pretty basic but the way you move Papi makes it unique.  You slide your finger on the tan part of the screen and it moves Papi.  Think of it as if Papi is balancing on the stick and you need to keep him balanced.  If you want him to move fast you can let him fall to one side and then swipe across the screen fast so that he becomes balanced again.  The settings screen has the normal Papi option of turning up the sound.  You can also submit your highscore after you play a game, just like all the other Papi games.

Verdict: If you enjoy the other Papi games, you probably already have this downloaded, but if not pick it up.  It is a little more challenging than the other games which makes it more fun.

Review: This app is for all you Papi Jump lovers.  Basically the goal is to guide Papi down a river while avoiding the walls which will slow him down.  When he gets pushed back behind the back end of the screen the game is over.  The movement in this game is controlled by the accelerometer and feels kind of weird at first because Papi seems to be affected by momentum and kind of slowly moves from side to side.  It takes a little getting used to but once you get comfortable it’s easy.  This game has the same layout as Papi Jump where there is a settings screen, game start screen, how to play screen and finally a more games screen.  The how to play and more games screen both lead to Safari links (but the developers added a link on the pages to return back to the game).  Once you start the game Papi starts being pushed down the river and once you die a screen comes up where you can submit your score and play again.  The settings screen is pretty simple with options to change your sound volume and calibrate your tilt sensor.

Verdict: Awesome game which is just as fun as Papi Jump once you get the hang of moving Papi around.

BlackJack Run Lite

Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10

Review: This is a pretty fun game and is one of my favorite on the app store.  This game incorporates some of the rules of blackjack with a twist.  The game consists of 5 rows where you try to place cards to add up to 21 (or as close as you can get).  The free version the game is made up of 3 rounds each consisting of 30 seconds.  The next card to be played is always placed up near the top of the screen and if you don’t like it, you have the chance to skip one each round.  Your score is calculated based on your five rows and the total that is added up from the rows.  If you score at least 95 points on the 5 rows you will also be eligible to receive bonus points for time left, blackjack bonus, hand of 21 bonus and all rows 21 bonus.  The only option/setting for the free version of this game is to change the background but the $4.99 paid version allows you to change the number of rounds, number of seconds in each round, starting cards in each row and change the position of where the row total is displayed as well as keeping track of your high scores.

Verdict: Fun free game but if you don’t feel there are enough settings and you enjoy the game enough you might wish to buy the paid version.

Review: This is one of the simplest games I have found but it is so addicting.  On the main screen you have three options: Game Start, How To Play and More Games.  Everything but Game Start leads to a web page (opens in Safari) which is inconvenient.  Once you start the game, you have one goal: get as high up as you can by using platforms scattered around the screen which is harder than it looks using the accelerometer, especially once you get past 10,000.  After finishing a game you have an option to save to your score (opens a page in Safari).

Verdict: Awesome free game and is a great time waster.  Worth the download.

Tap Tap Revenge

Review: If you don’t already have this app then there is a problem.  This has been one of the top free apps since the app store opened up a month ago.  Basically it’s a music based game which requires you to tap certain notes as they hit a certain area.  When you launch the application you have a couple choices of what you can do.  You can play by yourself or with some else, watch the tutorial, download more tracks and finally edit the options.  There are four different levels of difficulty: easy, medium, hard and extreme.  You can only play certain songs on certain levels.  Downloading songs couldn’t be easier, just go the the download more tracks button and choose the level at which you want to download a song for then choose a song and it will appear in your song list.  The options menu is pretty basic and there isn’t to much.  You can toggle the “Shakes” (a special note where you shake your iPhone/iPod Touch from side to side/up and down) and input your tapulous profile details (allows you to submit your high scores).

Screenshots:

Verdict: Definitely one of the best free apps on the store and is worth the download.

Tunnels

Type: Game

Cost: $1.99

Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10

Review: This is a really addictive game which can be played repeatedly without getting boring.  The point of the game is to guide a small spaceship down a narrow path for as long as you can while either using tilt or button controls.  The most recent update added another level to help you learn the controls (Training).  The medium and hard difficulties don’t change anything but the speed of the ship.

Screenshots:

Verdict: Worth the download especially if you find yourself with time to kill often.
